Ruth T. Hannon, Professor Emerita of Psychology, taught at Bridgewater State University (formerly Bridgewater State College) for more than 35 years. During that time, she taught thirteen different courses, three of which she developed. One course, "Perspectives of the Holocaust," was developed and co-taught with professors in Communication Studies and Social Work. She served as Department Chair for over six years and was a member of numerous committees both within and outside of the Psychology Department. She was also a founding member of the Women's Studies Committee overseeing the Women's Studies minor and served as Coordinator for the Women's and Gender Studies Program.

In addition, Professor Hannon has served as a consultant leading programs on work and family balance for employees and human resources professionals at a variety of Employee Assistance Programs and social service agencies in Southeastern Massachusetts. In 2001-2002, she was a visiting scholar at the Centers for Women at Wellesley College, designing a qualitative research program to study political violence and working families in Northern Ireland.

Professor Hannon has presented her work at several national and regional conferences and received a number of grants. In 2005 she received the BSC Presidential Award for Collaboration in Teaching, and in 2007 she received Honorable Mention for her Social Psychology Network Action Teaching Award entry "Using Lessons from the Holocaust to Reduce Bullying."
